Be Grateful

I complained that I did not have shoes, till I saw a man who had no feet”

I am sure you have heard this quote before. It is human nature that we tend to focus on the negative situations and what we lack than positive ones and what we have.

In our everyday life we complain about a lot of things. We complain about things are within our control and those which are not.

We brood on negative events, and ignore things that just go smoothly.

Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, focus on what you do have. Irrespective of their current situation everyone definitely has a lot of things to be grateful for. You can look at your glass as half empty or half full, it’s all about the attitude.

Many times we take for granted what we have. We must be grateful for even basic things like clean drinking water and roof over your head. There are many people who do not have the basic necessities of life.

People with children sometimes take their children for granted, but ask a person who cannot have children and you will know how fortunate you are.

Everyday find things to be grateful for. Be grateful for that perfect cup of coffee in the morning, a beautiful sunny day. Be grateful for people in your life and experiences they bring you, which help you learn and grow.

Even when an event seems negative or something bad happens, there is always a lesson in it for you. Look at it as a learning experience and be grateful for the lesson.

You can always find things to be grateful for. Being grateful, being appreciative of what you have makes you feel happier. It helps you develop a positive attitude towards life.

It has been scientifically proven that being grateful can not only boost your immune system but can also make you happier and optimistic.

This one Gratitude ritual has been helping me a lot. When I retire to bed at night, I go over everything that I am grateful for, the people in my life, the material things that I have which makes my life easier and comfortable and the experiences that I had.

Most night I fall asleep before I am done counting everything that I am grateful for. It is definitely a better way than worrying or thinking about what went wrong or something that you forgot to do.

Next morning I wake up fully rested and feeling great.

Another very good practice is keeping a Gratitude Journal. You can regularly write in your gratitude journal what you are grateful for. Probably that will trigger awareness in your brain and it will start looking for things to be grateful for to record in the journal.

Being grateful is just a better state of mind to be in.

The more you are grateful for what you have the more you will have to be grateful for” ― Zig Ziglar
